On Saturday I attended the memorial service for Ted Waller, my orthopaedic doctor, my neighbor and my friend.
It is always difficult to find the right words when someone dies. Death is a mystery that usually leaves us at a loss for words. Despite this, Ted’s family and friends did a beautiful job of sharing stories and remembrances.
As I reflect on the service, I find myself deeply moved by the actions of Ted’s friends who spoke. These friends were older men. Most were doctors. And most of them could not help shedding a few tears when they shared what Ted meant to them.
As moving as their words were, I was even more moved by their expression of emotion. The emotion came from the Heart. Their tears were tears of Love. Their tears were the most powerful testimonial they could give to our departed friend.
